Artists from Mik were noticed by Kunstbeeld

A solid core are the artist initiatives, and art galleries around the Boekhorststraat. Despite their consistent factor they have a certain autonomy that is attractive, but does not communicate directly with the public. The motivated and cold defying Hoogtij visitor who seeks his own way, will certainly encounter beautiful and fascinating art of his liking.

In September two young artists, Lenny Waasdorp and Sanne Maes, exhibite their work in Scheltema. The exhibition is also part of the Heritage Days on Saturday 13 and Sunday, September 14th, whose theme is Spurs. The exhibition is situated through the whole building. Tracking, searching for meaning plays a role in the work of both artists.

Sanne Maes projects images on substrates that are themselves an image, thus creating a work with multiple layers of meaning. As a spectator you peel off layer by layer from artwork, to find the meaning.

Lenny Waasdorp looking for deeper layers. It may be a bit raw and battered by her. Like if you scratch the lacquer layer of things with your nails. "Everything that exists on the surface, I don't find interesting, just when it goes beyond that is fascinating... I don't want to show what is already there, but I want to show what everyone is inclined to deny ..?

5Midas Zwaan, Hightymighty
